Holiday

One of the holidays that I celebrate is a holiday called Byram in Turkish culture. What you do on that day is that you go around asking for money from anybody in your family that’s older than you. For example your mom, dad, bigger sibling, or a grandparent. So in this holiday the younger you are the better. We celebrate this holiday around in the middle of August.

  1. Thanks for sharing this holiday with us, Deniz. I have never heard of Byram but it sounds like fun– especially for children. My family is Japanese and on New Year’s Day, we give children money in lucky red envelopes. That sounds similar to what you do for Byram except that it’s in the summer time.
